A simple thing, such as copying a file's name, can end up being aggravating if you are in a hurry and you stumble on your keyboard. ExtraBits can make this operation much simpler. You probably never felt the need for such an utility, but once you try it out, you will make it a vital part of the operating system's File Explorer. Its features are easy to access and even a novice user can master them without any problems.

Installing the application is a straightforward process. It comes in a small package and it can be installed quickly, without any effort. The application is advertised as an extension for Windows 10's File Explorer, but it works perfectly with Windows Explorer, in older Windows versions.

Once ExtraBits is installed, you will find a new set of options in Windows Explorer or File Explorer's context menu. The new options enable you to copy a file's name, with or without deleting the file and to paste file names, with or without extensions. Additionally, if you right click folders, you will find options for extracting them and for deleting empty sub-folders.

The application is not limited to simply copying a file's name. ExtraBits can be tweaked to copy a file's name in various ways. You can define new rules and save them as presets on a small window, where you will find a few sample presets. Using these presets will enable you to copy a file's name with its entire path, with different separator types and so on.

Even if you haven't felt the need for extra options in File Explorer, ExtraBits will prove to be an invaluable tool in no time.

Pros

You can copy a file's name, paste it, with or without the extension and more. All operations can be performed on the fly, without any difficulties. The application is free and you can have it up and running in no time.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention.
